About Us: Our Story and Journey

Inspired by the monarch butterfly—whose journey can only be completed across generations—Danous Calling exists to ensure that vulnerable youth are never forced to walk their path alone.

We are a nonprofit organization dedicated to providing youth impacted by homelessness, foster care, and justice involvement with the opportunities, stability, and support they need to thrive. Through education, career pathways, basic living supports, and emotional guidance, we help young people break negative cycles and build futures rooted in purpose and possibility.

Founded by foster and adoptive mother and youth advocate Felisha Lyons, Danous Calling grew from firsthand experience supporting youth often overlooked by traditional systems. What began as a safe, loving space in her home has grown into a transformative organization committed to meeting young people where they are—and walking with them toward where they are meant to be.

Like the milkweed that sustains the monarch, Danous Calling provides the foundation youth need to grow. And like the generations of butterflies that complete the migration together, we believe each young person’s success is strengthened by community, compassion, and continuity.
